There's something
about Strasbourg
Petite-France Quarter: as in "small medieval French
town" as I would like to believe.
Unfortunately, the Germans named it that for totally different reasons.

Strasbourg, France. No wonder the French fought
so hard to keep it part of France when the Nazis tried to take it over.
It is, indeed, a very unique city as recognized by UNESCO in 1988. It is
truly hard to describe. I must say Petite-France area is yet the most charming
with its half-timbered houses, and many Medieval streets. It's another world.
It's definitely not as crowded as Paris so it has a more authentic feel.
It's like nothing you've ever seen before. "Dépaysant" as the Strasbourgeouis
would say (kind of destabilizing from your usual scenery). Strasbourg had
long been on my list of to-see while in Europe but we hadn't planned on
going there and I feel we thus missed many spots of this European jewel.
I guess we'll have to put it back on the to-do list and have some more Quiche
Lorraine and Alsace Riesling! :)

Bitche, France (yes, Bitche. And yes,
we, French speakers, pronounce it the same darn way as you English-speakers!)
