"Oh and watch for the pickpockets in Prague...Ken almost left them his wallet..."

Before you read on...I must mention that this page is dedicated to my uniformed admirers at Prazsky Hrad. Just kidding. I won't dedicate them the page, but I certainly won't go without mentionning their odd, yet flattering behavior. I simply had never seen Castle Guards with wandering eyes before. And we're not talking about an isolated case here either. I must have spotted at least 5 pairs of eyes following me around while the owner of those eyes was supposed to be parading or guarding gates. I almost asked Ken to take a picture of me kissing the cheek of one of them because I truly think they would have let me. Anyhow, Prague! How was Prague? It was alright. Ken loved it and I...liked it. The feel of the city simply didn't capture me as much as it captured him. It is a beautiful city though and the magic of it operates best at night. It truly is more lively, less crowded and more charming with the old feel and the old dim lighting. It still is Eastern Europe though. Once you are out of the touristy area, you'll find quite a bit of graffiti, beggers, and building falling in ruins. The food CAN be good but you better be willing to pay the price for real butter, real jam and real orange juice instead of these usual imitations they serve you. You'd be surprised at how jacked up the prices are as well and how inventive these people are with such charges as "couvert" charges (cover charge). Not as cheap as it once was unfortunately. Oh and watch for the pickpockets in Prague...Ken almost left them his wallet... :)

Old New Synagogue,  Europe's oldest active synagogue (1270). Josefov quarter (Jewish Quarter)
is peaceful  and very charming. Worth the visit, Jewish or not.

Old Town Square with view of Tyn Cathedral. When people asked where we were from; we mentionned living in Denmark. Reactions?
"You're a Dane, but he's not!" Stereotypes are still alive, guys! Blonde hair = Scandinavian person, no discussion!

Along the Vltava River which caused the worst flooding ever in 2002. Most of the subway and bits of old town went underwater.
The water was almost equal to the height of Charles Bridge. The zoo's animals were almost all evacuated in the 3 hours allowed but Gaston the sea
lion decided to swim his way to Germany anyway and was found dead 300 km away.

July 9, 1357, 5:31 a.m.: King Charles IV lays  the first foundation stone of the bridge we are standing on.
They say eggs were used to fortify the mortar used in its construction. Walking on egg shells, anyone?

Wenceslas Square with view of the National Museum.  The very spot where the Soviet tanks invaded in 1968 (Prague Spring) and the very spot
they had to leave in 1989. (Velvet Revolution) If you ever go, be careful, the cobblestones are so old they are slippery! Too much occupation!

Night time in Prague! That's when the magic operates! Don't miss the "underground" Black Light Theatre performances. We LOVED it!

The Dancing House, designed in cooperation with a Canadian architect. The building used
to be nicknamed Fred and Ginger since it looks like a pair of dancers (apparently!). People also claim
it looks like this because it is replacing a building bombed in 1945...by the U.S. Air Force!
