"Now that I'm back from this great
European city, another word is part of my Parisian vocabulary: Queue."
When you think of Paris, what comes
to your mind? The Eiffel Tower? The Arch of Triomph? The Louvre?
I can't blame you. That's exactly what used to come to my mind when I planned
to visit the City of Light (along with French pastries and great shopping,
of course!). Now that I'm back from this great European city, another
word is part of my Parisian vocabulary: Queue. Granted it was Easter
and the weather could not have been ANY better, I still expected less tourists.
We had to wait 2 hours to get tickets to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower,
1 hour to reach the top (2 different elevators...2 queues, you got it) and
1 hour to get down (same elevator "problem"). The view was absolutely 100%
worth it despite the fact that it's pretty windy at the tippy top; but was
it worth a whole afternoon of standing in line? Well, I guess, but one thing
is sure, I had no intention of waiting for anything else for the remaining
of my stay and so...we'll have to go back to the Louvre some other day and
climb the towers of Notre-Dame later. The Arch of Triumph was lucky and was
graced by our presence on the first day though. That line was much shorter
(at least before the Quebec students invaded). Oh and let's get something
straight: the Parisians were great. Not snobby, not unhelpful. And it's not
only because I speak the language. When they'd hear me translate to my sweet
honeybun, they would try to speak English by respect for my husband. Now
that's what I call great customer service!
Arc de Triomphe at dawn. Yep, we were in the
middle of traffic, that's right!

From the top of the Eiffel Tower we could see
Sacré-Coeur. Very white city compared to Copenhagen
